What is Applied Behavior Analysis?
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a science that focuses on changing socially significant behaviors through experimentation in order to identify the variable(s) responsible for behavior change. Applied behavior analysis is objective, evidence-based and all decisions are based upon data. ABA involves the application of behavior principles and practices to facilitate language acquisition, adaptive daily living skills, behavior reduction, and social skills.
What type of problems can ABA address?
ABA can be used to teach a variety of life skills and appropriate behaviors, including adaptive daily living skills, language acquisition, reading, social skills and interactions, and more. At EverGrow Behavior Solutions we create an individualized program to address each child’s unique needs.
Who creates the program for my child?
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) creates an individualized program for your child. A BCBA has completed rigorous coursework and passed the exam created by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (www.bacb.com). The BCBA has earned a masters degree and meets the BACB's national standard A BCBA must maintain certification through continuing education.
How is my child's program created?
First step is to contact EverGrow Behavior Solutions via phone, email, fax, or through the online form. EverGrow Behavior Solutions will contact you and discuss ABA and your needs. Following the phone call a meeting will be set up with a BCBA to start the assessment. The assessment includes interviews/conversations to gather information and answer any questions/concerns, meeting your child, and reviewing any previous assessments. Following the initial assessment then programs will be identified and any assessment tools. The assessment tool chosen will be specific to your child's needs. At EverGrow Behavior Solutions there is not one set curriculum or specific path for programming. The programming is specific to your child and your family. Programming is based on data and research.
